University Radio York Computing Team
we like computers
Who are we?
We're a team of passionate students and alumni that
are dedicated to improving the way student radio and computers
interact. As part of the UK's oldest legal independent radio
station, we help some of the best student presenters,
reporters, and producers make the most of their time at York by giving
them the tools and resources they need to make damn good radio.
What do we do?
-
Administer URY's herd of servers, desktops,
outside broadcast computers, and other important systems;
-
Build new software and hardware to solve the
problems of an ever-evolving student radio station;
-
Help presenters and other URY members with their
computer-related problems, from unjamming the printer, to setting up
micro-sites for events, to overseeing the business end of entire
rebrandings and website overhauls;
-
Have fun in a friendly, informal environment where
time and effort commitments aren't mandatory.
Things we make
-
BAPS3, a new, modular radio playout system, including
- Bifrost, an API server and playout system platform
- Listd, a playlist manager
- Playd, an elegant, minimal audio player
-
MyRadio, a one-stop shop for radio station
management, including show scheduling, podcast uploading, and more;
-
A variety of one-shot tools and scripts to make managing a student
radio station just that little bit easier.

GitHub organisation to see what we're up to.
How do I get involved?
